Village Homestay

After our 6 mile hike and a break for lunch, we arrived at the homestay on a very steep hill. It was a relief, as we were shedding layers on the way up to keep from overheating in the cool, rainy, misty weather.

To our surprise, this was not a homestay as we envisioned being in a home with a family, having a spare room to ourselves. It was a communal arrangement. A lot of the trekkers we saw at the office and on the path are being housed here as well. It turned out to be a great evening, meeting new people from different parts of the world, including a couple and their two young daughters from Michigan and a nurse from Manhattan. We have not come across many Americans in the 3 months we have been traveling.
