Hiking in Sapa

We booked a 2-day hiking tour with an overnight homestay with the Sapa Sisters Trekking (https://sapasisters.com/), an organization dedicated to paying female guides fair wages amongst other great benefits. It was a rainy and cool morning as we headed out to explore the hillside farms and mountain villages in the Sapa district.

 As we leave the hilly city center, the terrain becomes steeper. Luckily, since it was raining, we opted for the longer but the easier route, avoiding more slippery mud paths within the farms, we did trek on the occasional mud path and were still able to get wild berries on the roadside.

And the views of the rice paddies from higher up were stunning as can be seen below.

We encountered pigs, buffalos, and goats doing their thing.

We trekked over 6 km the first day to the homestay for an overnight.
