We took a taxi into the city to get some cash and decided to walk around on the waterfront. What a beautiful sight...a beach as far as the eyes can see. We began to worry though. There were only about 3 people on this beautifully manicured beach. How can that be? Then it dawned on us. Mid-day, the sun is hot! Except for us crazy tourists, the 3 people on the beach, motorists, everyone else is indoors with a fan or the AC. And even those on motorbikes have only hands (below the wrists) exposed to the burning sun.
The city of Chenh Rang is modern looking and continues to expand up higher and higher with skyscrapers, like other cities in the region. A beautiful boardwalk follows the beach and is lined with hotels, bars, restaurants, miniature theme parks, shops, parks, and flower gardens. Folks come out to play in the mornings before 10am and again the evening hours.
