Vientiane, Laos

We arrived in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, via a 30-minute flight from Phonsavan (just over $100). Our previous driving experience to Phonsavan cured us of driving in the mountains, so we sprang for a flight instead. Flying in-country is rather cheap in these parts, so it's a convenient way to travel.

Vientiane is also a big tourist destination in Laos with its plentiful hotels and guesthouses, bars, restaurants, and cafes. We checked into the small Bloom Boutique Hotel in the heart of the city. Our superior room was upgraded to a deluxe suite.

 The Buddha Garden

Our first visit in Vientiane was to the Buddha garden, the venue that was mentioned as a must see by some fellow travelers we met at our hotel in Phonsavan. This was quite an amazing garden, with lots of large status telling different stories. Below are some of our favorites.
